Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I hope you all have a wonderfully fun New Year's Eve!  I'm having a pretty low key one myself (being 8 months pregnant doesn't lend itself well to big parties always).  Also, be safe out there!  One of my resolutions is to blog more this coming year, so you'll be hearing more from me! :)

If You're Going To San Francisco...

This past weekend I finally made it out to San Francisco to visit my friend, E. And it just so happened to be Fleet Week when I was there.  It was so much fun!  It makes me wish that I could go visit more often, but considering I am almost 6 months pregnant, and the weather will be getting colder, I don't know that I'll make it out there for a weekend again anytime soon.  Maybe a day trip.

Anyway, it was a really fun weekend getting to eat at some new places, as well as see the military planes flying around the bay.  We even managed to fit in a short trip to a little farmer's market.

At Fort Mason

Farmer's Market

Blue Angels

some other planes (not sure what kind)

Thanks for the fun weekend, E!

New Girl Crush

Lately I've been having a slight girl crush on Karen Gillan, mostly known from Doctor Who.  She seems like such a fun girl.  But I think that it's mostly cause I'm a little jealous of her red hair.  I've always wanted to try out having a reddish hair color, but so far have not been brave enough.

A Little Announcement

A brief explanation about my absence the last few months... I'm pregnant!  I had a pretty rough first trimester, and so blogging was pretty near the bottom of my list of things to do at the end of the day.  But, I'm feeling a little better (finally!), so hopefully I'll be able to post more often.

Dreaming of Fall

The weather here has been WAY too hot for my liking.  Near 100 degrees most of the week.  Seeing other people complain on twitter about the rain and cooler weather in their area doesn't help.  I'm so jealous.  So, since I can't dress for the cool weather yet, I've just been browsing Fall styles, ect.  I found this coat that someone put on Pinetrest today, so I don't know who makes it or where to get it (does anyone know?).

Meh

I'm getting bad about updating again! I think it's because I've been feeling so worn out lately, and after I put Little L to bed, I usually just want to lay in bed and watch tv, not blog.

Anyway... I finished "I don't care about your band", and it was just ok. Definitely not one that I would recommend you rush out and buy. And I'm definitely glad I got it at a clearance price at the bookstore. It was funny, and had some good stories, but got a little repetitive after a while. I started wondering just why this girl kept sleeping with all these guys (which she would give some pretty intimate details about) that seemed like such losers. She even thought they were losers at times, and would still continue to see/sleep with them. It's definitely not as good as Bossypants.

Quote of the Day

"He had the attitude woman's magazines try to sell to their audience: that significant others are only the frosting on the cake of life. But everybody knows that cake without frosting is just a muffin."

What's On Your Bookshelf?

I've recently started using Goodreads (you can find me here) in an attempt to help myself read more.  I finished the Hunger Games in a day, though I stayed up WAY too late reading.  I enjoyed it.  It was definitely a little darker than I thought it was going to be.  I'm not sure my 10 year old self would be that into it.  Maybe when I was in my early teens.  I did really enjoy Lord of the Flies around that age.  And there are some similarities (not overall, but...I guess in the level of how dark parts were).  Anyway, I would definitely recommend this book.  It was an easy read (YA after all).

My next read is...

I'm not that far into this book, but I can tell that as someone who is married, I am not the target audience of this book.  But, it is still a humorous book, that I am enjoying reading.  Another very light read, sort of like Bossypants was.

Currently Reading: The Hunger Games

Little L and I are sitting outside, listening to some Michael Jackson. I decided it's time for me to read this book. And I want to read it before I'm completely spoiled by all the talks of the movies.

Flower Power

Last week I went to a flower wholesaler with my mother to look at some flowers for my brother's upcoming wedding.  While my mother looked for flowers for centerpieces, I wandered around looking at all the different flowers they had.

I had never seen roses quite this dark before.  They might be my new favorite kind of rose.  The picture (taken with my phone) doesn't nearly do them justice.  They were much darker, and prettier in person.

They had a ton of hydrangeas (more than is pictured), which is one of my favorite flowers ever.  It's what I used for my wedding bouquet, so I have a special place for them in my heart.

Visiting this place made me realize that I want to incorporate more fresh flowers into the house.  They are just so cheery.

Wedding Frenzy

All along I was not really that into the Royal Wedding hoopla.  Yes, I had my very own little crush on Prince William back in the day, but just like his hair, so went my crush.  My interest was just not there with it being all I saw on Twitter/entertainment news over the last week or so. "We are not in Britain!  Why do they all care so much?" I wondered.  I felt a little more like the girl in the bottom left corner of this photo.

Like, "Can it just be over already?"

But then the other day, after stumbling upon a few shows about William and Kate (now Catherine...I wonder how she feels about having to change her name?  Brides usually have a hard time changing their last name, can you imagine changing your first as well?)  I sort of got sucked in.  So, I tried to stay up and watch the wedding, though set our DVR just in case.  I made it to about 1:30 am, and decided that the actual wedding was too far off, and that I was going to sleep.  I somehow just woke up as Kate was exiting her car, and was able to get a view of her dress.  It was GORGEOUS!

Very Grace Kelly.

tried  to stay awake for the ceremony, but sort of had my eyes closed for most of it, so I may go back to see a few bits of it on the DVR.

I love that they drove away in this little car from the palace.

Spring In Your Step

Spring is definitely here.  Some days have felt down right hot even.  So with the warmer weather, we've been spending more time outside.  Little L has been enjoying this immensely, as any two year old would.  Pretty much every day he asks to go play at the park, or in the yard.  And, allergies and energy permitting, he does.

I Forgot!

I meant to mention a while ago that Erica (of San Francisco...Sometimes) and I did a little collaboration a couple weeks ago.  By collaboration, I mean we decided to do something besides dinner before seeing a movie, and did a photo shoot instead.  Go check it out :)

Bunny Napkins

Since tomorrow is Easter, I've been looking around for some decorative ideas for our family gathering.  I came across these bunny napkins on the Martha Stewart website (which honestly, were a little confusing, since they were just diagrams instead of pictures).  But, you don't even need to go there, cause I have the directions and photos here for you!

First, lay out your napkin flat, top side down.

Next, fold in the top and bottom portions like a piece of paper going in an envelope.  It should now be 1/3 of the size.

After that, you'll fold the two corners down the middle, so it looks like this.

Next, you fold up the bottom corners, like this.

The next thing you do is sort fold/roll in the bottom portion of the napkin. (these are going to be the ears)

Flip your napkin over, ears facing up.

Fold up the bottom portion to make a triangle.

Now stand up your napkin, and tuck one of the corners back into the other.  Then stand up and you have your bunny napkin!

Bossypants

I just finished reading Bossypants, by Tina Fey.  It was so funny.  I would definitely suggest you go out and get this book, because it is a great read. You know how people are always on the hunt for a good book for vacations or for when they are sitting out by the pool?  Something good, but not too serious?  This is your book.  It took me not quite three nights to read it, and not like full late night reading.  So, it's definitely a quick read.  Go get it!

Open For Play

Back in October someone set fire to the mall by our house. While they are still working on the damage done to the area immediately surrounding where the fire took place, they have slowly been reopening different sections. Today they FINALLY opened up one of the play areas (the other is still under construction). They certainly went all out with the balloons/decorations in the area. Little L enjoyed them almost as much as getting to run around and play on the new equipment. I (sadly) had to carry him out kicking and crying when the mall was closing, and it was time to go home.

L and the Giant Lemon

As I previously mentioned, we went to a friend's farm yesterday. Little L got do do a lot of fun things there, including pick some fruit (oranges and lemons). This one lemon has got to be the biggest lemon I've ever seen. It's seriously gigantic.

A Day at the Farm

Today we went to visit some friends at a farm that their parents live on.  The little guy had a TON of fun.  He fell asleep on the way home, but right when he woke up as I was taking him out of his car seat, he started trying to rebuckle himself, and said, "I go see friends."

There's three little boys in there...somewhere.
