Photo of the Day: Vogue Korea April 2010

Ready For Easter?

How about ordering this Benoît Missolin Miss Fortuna headband, available here.

I have to say, if I had an extra $360 I'd be tempted to purchase this for my Easter celebrations.  Or maybe Benoît Missolin will want to send me one?

Celebrity Inspiration: Emma Watson

Emma Watson is someone we’ve watched grow up from a very young age.  And unlike other child stars, she’s done it with a certain grace and dignity.  All those Harry Potter kids have actually, but this post isn’t about them.  It’s about Emma.  Not only has she become quite a fashionable dresser herself, but she’s become a designer as well, with her collaboration with People Tree.  Not to mention the fact that she is currently the face of Burberry.  Add in her blossoming film career, and that’s a lot of achievements at the young age of (almost) 20.

Here are some photos from a spread she had in Teen Vogue a year or two ago.  Absolutely gorgeous.  These photos are actually what first made me take notice of the little fashionista that Emma had become.

She was also in Vogue Italia.  Here are some of my favorite shots from that spread.  She looks stunning.

Here is a photo of her with her costars from Harry Potter.

Of course it is easy to look fabulous for photo shoots that are thought out and designed to the last detail.  Here she is in some everyday/event shots.

I'll end the photos with some random shots of her from what appear to be photo shoots.

I love that she's been able to develop a personal style that is both age appropriate, and something that one would not need to feel ashamed about copying.

The Fab Four

Before Sex and the City, there were the original four girls we loved to watch.  The Golden Girls.  We recently got more channels with our cable, and so we get this show again.  I love this show.  LOVE it.  While my husband does not find it quite as interesting (he usually falls asleep shortly after I put on the Hallmark Channel), he is sweet enough to fein interest while he is awake.  Just another reason I love him.

Anyway... the show, though it takes place in the 80s, and features a cast of much older women, in some way still seems like a fashion inspiration.  Not that I'm about to start dressing like a 50-something divorcee/widower in Miami, but  I still have a fondness for the clothing.  Sequins, shoulder pads, muumuus and all.  And of course, Sophia's wicker purse.

Feather Report

I just found out about this app (and blog) this evening.  It's called Feather Report, the blog can be found here.  What is it?  It's an app that will determine your location, get a weather report for said location, and then give you a suggestion on what to wear.  You can also select different occasions, body types, ect. to get suggestions.  For those lucky New Yorkers, you can actually look at the blog, which gives a weather/clothing report for the city.  It's pretty useful.  I just downloaded it for my iPhone, and can't wait to make use of it.

Oscars 2010

The Oscars were pretty predictable in regards to who would walk away with the little gold men.  But, what I'm usually the most interested in isn't who will walk away big winners from the Academy, but who will walk away a winner (ok, and who will be a "loser") in the eyes of the fashion world.

Least Favorites

Oh SJP.... I know your a fashion risk taker at times, but I feel this one just didn't do the job.  That, and I feel that she looked really old for her age whenever you saw her up close.  Thumbs down for sure.

I feel like the bottom of the dress is what really takes it into the unlikeable category for me.  Way too much going on, in way too many shades of purple.

Eh... Unsure
(I'm not totally hating, or totally loving these)

I'm leaning more towards love than hate with Anna Kendrick's dress.  When I first saw it, I was really not that impressed, but the more I saw it throughout the night, I thought it was not bad.  I think the hair was slightly throwing me off.  Though in this picture, it looks pretty good too.

I love Nicole Richie, and her style.  But I wasn't sure about this dress.  I like it a lot from the back, but the front view leaves me wanting more.  Plus I wasn't too impressed with her hair.

Favorites of the Night

I thought Queen Latifah looked amazing.  I can honestly say I agree with those who say it could very possibly be the best she's looked.

I'm mostly including Kristen Stewart here, because I think it is such an improvement in how she's looked in the past.  So, bravo, KStew.

I didn't actually get to see Cameron Diaz onscreen with this dress, but saw it while looking through photos.  It is amazing.  So glamorous.

Sandra Bullock was the big winner in her category, and she was definitely dressed for it.  I especially love the top, and all the beading.  Gorgeous!

I have to say, I'm a little shocked to include Miley Cyrus on this list.  She really picked a dress that I think was beautiful.  I just wish she would've stood up straight!

Down the Rabbit Hole

I am very much looking forward to seeing the new Alice in Wonderland movie (hopefully in the coming week.  anyone want to babysit?)  I feel like this movie is becoming a big influence in fashion lately.  I've gotten emails from numerous fashion websites or designers with Alice as the inspiration for some of their latest looks.  From nail polish to accessories, it's all over the place!

I am loving the rabbit head ring in the photo below, from Forever 21.  Unfortunately, a trip to my local store wasn't as successful as I'd hoped, and I couldn't find it.  It's not on their website anymore either.  Though I did find another ring while there that softened the blow.

There is another ring which can be found on Fred Flare that I am also loving.  It looks like an antique keyhole.  At only $10, I'm definitely considering ordering this one.

A bit darker, but from a photo shoot with an Alice in Wonderland theme.  Not my favorite look inspired by Alice....

This Alice photo shoot is a little more appealing to me.  For one, it's not nearly as morbid.  It's more fun, and some pieces I could actually see myself wanting to wear.

And lastly, here is a dress from the Fall 2010 Marc Jacobs show that seems to have a bit of Wonderland inspiration.

I'll end with some other random photos that remind me of Alice in Wonderland...

March Inspiration

I've been looking online a lot lately to find some inspiration for the warmer weather coming up.  It's finally getting to the point where layers upon layers are not needed.  A lightweight jacket is usually sufficient.  I couldn't be more thrilled.  Some of the looks I may not put together exactly the same way (mostly cause I'm not sure I'm quite brave enough yet), but there are definitely elements at least that I want to try to work into my Spring wardrobe
